Things that Scare Us (Jesus Time - June 24, 2018)

During Jesus Time, Cove's program for children and young people, we focused on the following passage from the Gospel of Mark:
That evening, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the east side.” So they left the crowd, and his disciples started across the lake with him in the boat. Some other boats followed along. Suddenly a windstorm struck the lake. Waves started splashing into the boat, and it was about to sink.
Jesus was in the back of the boat with his head on a pillow, and he was asleep. His disciples woke him and said, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re about to drown?”
Jesus got up and ordered the wind and the waves to be quiet. The wind stopped, and everything was calm.
Jesus asked his disciples, “Why were you afraid? Don’t you have any faith?”
Now they were more afraid than ever and said to each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!” [Mark 4:35-41, CEV]
After discussing the meaning of the passage, some of the young people drew the following pictures to illustrate their personal fears.

Taylor is afraid of driving.

Maggie is afraid of jellyfish.

Julia is afraid of school.

Elizabeth is afraid of scary movies.

Brooklyn is afraid of sharks.

Backpack to Success

On Sunday afternoon, some of our young people purchased food for the Backpack to Success program, sponsored by Weirton Elementary School. This program enables children who might not enough to eat to take home some food for the weekend. They met at Shop n Save to do some comparative shopping and make purchases using money they raised by the sale of candles during the last few months. Afterwards, they were treated to dinner at Chico Fiesta. We thank Tina Viakley and Jessica Shuble for giving these young people the opportunity to the live the faith they profess.

Children's Bulletins @ Home!

We're excited to announce a NEW feature of Children's Worship Bulletins that will have children lining up to get their bulletin this Sunday! That's because they'll be looking forward to the secret code on the front of the bulletin that unlocks hours of fun learning at home.
This secret code is unique to our church and allows SAFE and secure access to online games that reinforce the message for the week. You can continue Bible learning and discussion at home - while protecting children from the hazards of general Internet game sites.

Several games are rotated - Memory Match, Word Search, Gems of the Bible and Coloring Book - so each week kids will have something new to play. The games are geared toward all age levels so everyone can join in the fun!
Step 1: Your child picks up a bulletin with a secret code on the front.
Step 2: At home they enter the secret code at
Step 3: Pick a game and play!

Down Time at the Fuzzy Peach

After helping other members of the congregation decorate the church for Christmas, some of our youth enjoyed some frozen yogurt at the Fuzzy Peach.
